Angelina Ballerina Birthday

When your ballet loving daughter turns 4, you let her twirl the day away. Each year we pick a book to build her birthday theme around (at least while I can!), and when she asked for a dance birthday party an idea came to mind. We love the Angelina Ballerina books! Plus, one of our toy lines, Maileg, has an adorable ballet mice collection I knew I could incorporate. The ideas started flowing!

Luckily, our friends at Daydream Society had a beautiful new ballet collection coming out, and we were able to use it for the party. It worked perfectly with my vision, and it help inspire some of the design components. The plates are my favorite! For the backdrop, we created faux curtains out of foam board, which matched well with the plate's stage scene. The curtains worked out well because we were then able to reuse them for our shop windows.

We used the new Meri Meri bamboo cake stands to display the gorgeous desserts by my friends September Moon Cupcakery and Sweet Sugarlicious. They used Angelina Ballerina books for inspiration, and I had found vintage ballerina cupcake toppers to use as well. On the children's tables, the party supplies were the main statement, but accented with confetti and pink satin ribbon that reminded me of ballet slippers. Little Maileg mice danced on the tables as a fun nod back to the book.

Craft wise, we kept the little girls busy decorating wood wands and coloring ballerina pages that coordinate with the party collection. A great option for party entertainment! Daydream Society has coloring sheets to match all of their collections. I also lucked out, and my friend brought her daughters for the party dressed up as Ballerinas. Elizabeth was so excited! One of them helps in her class some times, making it extra special. The party was originally going to be just family, but after a couple cousins were unable to make it, I last minute let her invite a few friends from her schools. Nothing like a week of party invitation because the mom panics no one is coming! It was so cute seeing her dance around with all of friends. The beauty of a ballet themed party, dancing makes for a fun activity!

My wonderful friend Alison Moore captured the party for us. Sharing some pictures that will hopefully help inspire your next ballet theme soiree! Each year I create a special book with birthday party pictures on Mpix. Parties are kind of my thing, so I enjoy have special books to look back on with the memories.
